NEW! CLOSED

Caransa Hotel, The hotel was built in 1969 by order of the Amsterdam businessman Maup Caransa, who had already acquired the Schiller hotel and café De Kroon on Rembrandtplein. The brutalist design was not to everyones taste.  The architect was Piet Zanstra, who had designed the equally controversial Maupoleum for Caransa. At the time, this hotel was one of the most modern and expensive hotels in Europe.

I took these pictures January 2021 - when most hotels were still closed in Amsterdam due to COVID restrictions.
