GOLDRUSH

I find it hard to imagine that these landscapes were once home to hundreds of people. The gold mining town of Waiuta, New Zealand, got started in 1905 and enjoyed decades of prosperity. A mine collapse in 1951 made mining uneconomic and the town was abandoned. What remains are a few crumbing structures and nature slowly reclaiming the ground.
